Who's next for the Hall of Fame? Plus: Daniel Bryan, a New PWI Podcast Episode, Major League Wrestling, and more

Welcome to the Latest PWI Weekly

The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is shaping up to be a real doozy. Since last year’s festivities were canceled, all of 2020’s inductees will be honored this April (minus Dave Bautista, who has a prior commitment). In case a refresher is needed, that list includes JBL, The British Bulldog, Jushin Liger, the NWO, and the Bella Twins.

Joining those esteemed wrestlers and superstars will be the 2021 inductees. Previously, we shared word that Molly Holly would be inducted. Since last week, the 2021 class has grown to include Eric Bischoff, Kane, and The Great Khali. And, it’s worth noting, the 2021 class hasn’t even been finalized!

Of course, every time a new class begins to take shape, we are left to wonder who might be announced next. For years, fans have been clamoring for Owen Hart to be honored, though his widow, Martha, has (understandably) shown zero interest in participating. The Rock seems like a good bet at some point, though perhaps not this year, in the absence of fans. And one recent error on the WWE Network website sparked rumors that Daniel Bryan would be added to this year’s list of inductees.

What do you think? Who will we see added to the growing list of HOF honorees this year? And who would you like to see added? Comment below, or, as always, feel free to drop me a line. —Kevin McElvaney

Wrestler Of The Week

No, it will not be entered into the record books. But we all saw it: Daniel Bryan made Roman Reigns tap out. In their main-event match at Fastlane, Bryan did something no other wrestler could—forcing Reigns to admit he could not escape a submission attempt. It is only because of some shenanigans involving a downed official and a woozy, beleaguered Edge that Bryan is not currently wearing the Universal championship belt. Going forward, it seems almost certain that D-Bry will be worked into Edge and Reigns’ upcoming WrestleMania title bout.

This Week In Headlines

From The Vault

Last February, the former ECW Arena in Philadelphia played host to the final set of pre-pandemic Major League Wrestling tapings. Among the matches held that day was this critically acclaimed bout, in which National openweight champ Alexander Hammerstone successfully defended his title against former WRESTLE-1 champion T-Hawk.

New Episode Of The PWI Podcast

They also share their thoughts on how the big, two-night event is shaping up thus far, while reviewing last weekend's NWA pay-per-view, Back for the Attack. Finally, Al shares audio of his recent Hotseat interview with "WWE Official" Adam Pearce.
